Even as the place was no longer a Howard Johnson's and had endured remodeling and additions, Tim and Tom Bernert reported that their overnight was pleasant, and that the old Motor Lodge kept much of its HoJo's atmosphere. They also said that hanging in the Gate Lodge there was a large aerial photograph showing the property in its glory days when it was still a Howard Johnson's.

Note the decorative acrylic window at right. It had once been in the gate Lodge along with a couple of others. It is interesting that the Lodge's owner decided to recycle the 1960s relic!

Having retained its Orange roof, the former Restaurant had been converted into Scooter's Bar and Grill by Phil's 2002 stop at the site.

Note the hacked off tower cupola that was "capped."
