Located
south and east of Nashville, opened in 1974 the 80-room two-story
classically configured Mansard style Murfreesboro Motor Lodge is
the LAST operating Howard Johnson Motor Lodge in
the Volunteer State as of February 2006. Here is a link to the property
from 2006: http://www.tndirectory.com/hjmurfreesboro/
While
its Restaurant long ago succumbed to a conversion, it at least managed
to hang on to its orange Roof. Unfortunately the Motor Lodge's Mansard
was sheared off by the time of Phil Edwards' 2002 stop at the site.
The guest buildings look to have been built in abbreviated balcony/style
that was common to other HJ projects of the era. |
