Nashville-North, Tennessee -- 2401 Brick Church Pike

Initially planned to open in 1972, the space-saving mid-rise Mansard complex did not open until some time in 1973. Fully modern, the 172 unit Motor Lodge advertised "the finest in television entertainment in your room at no extra charge," with their "satellite receiving station." In addition to its full service HoJo's Restaurant and Lamplighter Room, the location also featured a lounge, meeting rooms, and outdoor swimming pool.

Note that the facility was built conveniently along I-65 on a hill that afforded guests a sweeping view of downtown Nashville!

By Phil's 2002 visit, the Nashville-North Motor Lodge had been converted into a Quality Inn after having served briefly under the Holiday Inn flag. With its once included HoJo's Restaurant long closed, lodgers still had the option of fine dining at the adjacent McDonalds!

Attesting to Howard Johnson's well thought out and planned facility, the 1970s style Motor Lodge continued to offer "Quality" lodging when Heath Gross stopped by to get a couple of shots showing the original "t-style" lights illuminating the swimming pool and sun deck.
