Dallas-East,
Texas --
7201 Ferguson Rd |
|
Opened
in 1968, Dallas-East was purged from the HoJo's list in the middle
1980s. Having become unbranded its fortunes gradually waned. It
operated under various independent banners such as Economy Inn and
lastly Fair Park Inn. |

By
2002, the former Howard Johnson's had become a shell. Apparently
its owner had determined to rebrand the property as an Econo
Lodge, and in the process had gutted the guest buildings extending
the rooms eliminating balconies and patios. However work had
been halted and the site was finally leveled by the spring
of 2004. |

Satellite
views taken prior to the location's demolition reveal much about
the layout of the former Motor Lodge and Restaurant complex. Interestingly
no other motels sprang up at its exit, and this isolation perhaps
contributed to the facility's eventual demise. |
