Texarkana-Interstate, Texas -- 400 W 53rd St

Opened in the summer of 1969 shortly after Interstate 30 was completed, the Texarkana-Interstate Motor Lodge and Restaurant complex was the second to open in the Texarkana area. With its 64 guest rooms, It was sited in Texas just across the street from the Arkansas line.

A Best Western No More ...
In its second life the former Motor Lodge became a Best Western. Alas its fortunes have waned, for it has lost the BW moniker. By 2006 it was at least still branded but as a Budget Host.

Significantly altered along the way, the one-time HoJo's Restaurant had become largely unrecognizable. Oddly its 2000s roofline suggests a Nims profile, but the layout indicates that it was the more modern t-type that was the small cousin of the Concept '65 design.
