Oftentimes when Motor Lodges became Best Westerns, most of the original Howard Johnson's fixtures and layouts were well preserved. The Texarkana property was a mixed bag of HoJo-ness. Although its Gate lodge and Restaurant had suffered modification, the guest facilities were amazingly intact. Note the original and unusual stone faced corridor below and the patio complete with slider and "round" light fixture above.
 
 
 
 
 

The guest rooms were still very HoJo-like in the early 2000s. Note the completeness of the bathrooms and the intact Privacy Screen. Even a couple of late Landmark Supply era chairs were still in use in Scott Sargent's room!
