River Junction, VT

North Hartland Road |
Opened
in the late 1940s, the original White River Junction Restaurant
was described as a "Canton Type Store." Its original
licensee was William Cashman of Lebanon, a native of Hingham,
Mass. who had previously owned an interest in a Packard automobile
dealership.
These
first photographs depict what is believed to be the original Howard
Johnson's Restaurant in White River Junction. The building fell
into disrepair before being converted into Frederick
Johnson Pianos Inc.

A
"modern" Motor Lodge and Restaurant complex was opened
at White River Junction in 1968 and lasted until the 1990s! The
Restaurant remained until nearly the end of the '90s. |
