Built in the 1960s or '70s as a Downtowner Motor Inn, the facility was converted into a Howard Johnson's in 1979 and likely did not offer a full-service Howard Johnson's Restaurant. Thus this location would have been a disappointment to HoJo's purists since it did not offer typical standardization. The site was eventually converted into a Holiday Inn.
