Anaheim's
original plans called for a "drive-under" A-frame
Canopy Gate Lodge situated with the Nims-type restaurant facing
Harbor Boulevard, but as construction commenced the Gate Lodge
was dropped from the plans. When the Motor Lodge opened, its
guest buildings were all two-story with the high-rise section
being added about a year into the facility's operation.
