Playing the name-game,
the Motor Lodge was converted into a La Quinta. Once well recognized
for its own unique standardized architecture, La Quinta now allows
operators to convert existing motels (as long as they build a
little silly closet in each guest room!). In between my 2000
and 2003 visits, an extension was added to the Gate Lodge as
seen in the photos below. The addition serves as a Continental
Breakfast area. |

Operating as a Shoney's
in 2000, the restaurant was closed as the company's popularity
waned. However the former HJ was remodeled and converted once
again. It was a wing restaurant in 2003. |
