Fort
Walton Beach, Florida -- 314 W Miracle
Strip (U.S. 98)
New address: 322 Miracle Strip Parkway |
|
Opened
in 1965, Fort Walton Beach was a classic Motor Lodge and Restaurant
complex. Located not at the beach but on the bay, the Motor Lodge
originally offered 84 guest rooms. Later additional guest buildings
were added upping the total to 140 rooms.
Last
as Howard Johnson in 1999, it became the unbranded Sound Side Inn
by 2001. Subsequently part of the former Motor Lodge was rebranded
as a Roadway Inn, but by 2005 it had become unbranded again and
was renamed the Bayside Inn.

The
Motor Lodge was divided into two motels. The Gate Lodge and the
guest building behind it remained less altered, while the other
two interior corridor guest buildings were gutted and became the
Quality
Inn Bayside.
