The
Miami Beach Howard Johnson's had but three owners. After Herbert
Pulitzer's sensational divorce trial in the early 1980s, he
sold the Motor Lodge to the Voutsinas family.
The
Voutsinas family carried on the fine traditions of the location
and renovated the property soon after they had purchased it.
However, even remodeled, they did not significantly alter
its HoJo character. After enduring much abuse from Cendant,
Mr. Voutsinas decided to relinquish the HJ name, and then
he subsequently retired.
In
the end, the former Motor Lodge was sold to its final owner,
The Talmudic
University of Florida which will cease its operations
on July 9, 2006 and convert the site into its campus. |
