Having given up on a brand name, the tired old HoJo's had fallen on hard times by 2005. Its grounds were no longer maintained and things were rapidly deteriorating.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Built on a small and oddly shaped parcel of land, the Lodge featured a drive through "tunnel" as a short cut to the guest room parking area.

Left: Originally all of the balcony railing was wood like that seen above on the stairwell.

Perhaps fearful of hurricane winds, the former Motor Lodge's owners taped up the Gate Lodge's windows--how unsightly and unnecessary.
