A early standardized design, Silver Springs featured certain aspects like the Executive Suite (above) that were not found in later properties. The Suite was on the second level and featured a large covered patio.

Although the room doors had all been replaced, many features of the room were carry overs from its prior life as a Motor Lodge.

Below: A circa 1986 to 1996 Howard Johnson ice bucket was in use in the room!

Above: Likely never featuring a standard Pamper Panel, the room nonetheless featured unadorned light switches between the beds.

Below: An odd feature of the room was the window above the bath tub!

The bathroom nicely featured many original Howard Johnson's fixtures, but the silent low-boy toilet had been replaced.

Note that the room's cathedral ceiling continued through the bathroom.

A very 1960s feature -- the bathroom's space heater was called an ELECTROMONE!

The "owners/managers" lived in a "house" behind the old Motor Lodge (above). It was in terrible condition and featured a large dumpster in the front yard. An "Indian" woman sat at one of the front windows in order to monitor the goings on at the motel. Occasionally she would open her weather worn front door and peek out!
