Traveling north
on the new I-85 in the early 1960s, this second Atlanta area
Howard Johnson's would have come prominently into view with both
its orange roofs glistening day and night beckoning weary road
warriors to exit and to be rest assured of reliable quality hospitality!
But by 2002 the view
headed north on I-85 is quite different.
Alas the view below, as Phil notes, is from nearly the same vantage
point as the archived image above. Furthermore Phil adds, "the
road level is now much higher. The restaurant would have been
straight ahead, but several feet lower"
