A series of weather events in 1994 conspired to nearly destroy this last I-75 Motor Lodge. Even though the site appears to be high and dry, the nearby Ocmulgee River overflowed its banks flooding the complex. Water inundated both the Restaurant and Gate Lodge. While some of the guest buildings suffered from the flood, they survived. Unfortunately the restaurant was deemed a total loss and demolished. Reportedly the manager of the Lodge has a photo album of the flooded complex, but she was unavailable to speak with me on either of my visits to the site.
