Fredericksburg, VA -- 5316 Jefferson Davis Hwy (U.S. 1)

Located on the south side of Fredericksburg, the Horne's complex was situated along with a host of other chain lodging facilities including Ramada Inn, Holiday Inn and Howard Johnson's at the I-95 and U.S. 1 interchange. No doubt its bright gleaming yellow roofs attracted motorists to drive past the Ramada and Holiday Inn!

Opened in early 1966, the Fredericksburg Horne's offered 100 guest rooms. After the Horne's chain became defunct the property was unbranded as the Budget motor Lodge, but gained 56 rooms at some point. During the 2000s it was rebranded as a Days Inn.

Higher & Below: Note in the view below after comparing the scene higher on this page that a wing of guest rooms had been added behind the pool which helped to increase the number offered from 100 to 156.

Higher & Right: Remarkably remade into a Bonanza by the early 1980s, new success for the former Horne's restaurant was short lived.

Seeing its best days long in the past, the building was stripped of its TV western themed steak-house facade and then abandoned before finally being demolished in the middle 2000s.
