Located at the intersection of Branch Avenue and Suitland Parkway, it isn't hard to imagine that it was once a choice spot for HoJo's. Furthermore I suspect that it was sited at a point that its developers had hoped would be adjacent to an Interstate, for at one time highway planners tried several ways to plow the limited access routes straight through Washington! One plan even indicated that I-95 was to be constructed under the city.

At any rate, the fact that both were, still in 2004, branded businesses demonstrated that Howard Johnson's knew how to pick locations! The fact that the site is next to a Metro Station also helps to explain its continued viability.
