Opened in late
1966, this Motor Lodge and Restaurant complex was located an
inconvenient distance from I-91. No doubt its purpose was to
serve the lodging needs of visitors to nearby colleges. Constructed
with an outdoor pool, the swimming season is short! |

The guest room
shown above was typical for Howard Johnson's starting in the
mid 1980s. In about 1983, the Howard Johnson Company began a
massive, but too late, remodeling campaign. Designers developed
a new look for the 1960s guest rooms featuring muted colors and
grass cloth for the walls. All of the decor was ordered from
Howard Johnson's Landmark Supply division. |
