Opened in late 1966, this Motor Lodge and Restaurant complex was located an inconvenient distance from I-91. No doubt its purpose was to serve the lodging needs of visitors to nearby colleges. Constructed with an outdoor pool, the swimming season is short!

The guest room shown above was typical for Howard Johnson's starting in the mid 1980s. In about 1983, the Howard Johnson Company began a massive, but too late, remodeling campaign. Designers developed a new look for the 1960s guest rooms featuring muted colors and grass cloth for the walls. All of the decor was ordered from Howard Johnson's Landmark Supply division.
