Albuquerque-East -- 15 Hotel Circle NE (I-40 @ Eubank exit)

Howard Johnson's directories initially indicated that the Albuquerque-East Motor Lodge complex would open in the shadow of the Scandia Mountains during the summer of '69, but a later directory listed its anticipated opening in June of 1970. The classic-style 150 room complex was well sited at a busy Interstate interchange which came to offer a host of hospitality offerings.

The property retained its status as a Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge well into the 2000s. Then it briefly operated as The Sandia Courtyard Hotel & Convention Center before becoming rebranded in the early 2010s as a Ramada.

Below: Its circa 1970s highway sign was recycled, but was replaced by 2006.

The property was renovated in 1993, and a new convention facility was added to the site. Unfortunately the A-frame Gate Lodge lost its status as lobby and became a reception room for the convention facility. By the end of the 2000s its signature Orange Roof was painted turquoise.
