Howard
Johnson's directories initially indicated that the Albuquerque-East
Motor Lodge complex would open in the shadow of the Scandia Mountains
during the summer of '69, but a later directory listed its anticipated
opening in June of 1970. The classic-style 150 room complex was
well sited at a busy Interstate interchange which came to offer
a host of hospitality offerings.
The
property retained its status as a Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge
well into the 2000s. Then it briefly operated as The Sandia Courtyard
Hotel & Convention Center before becoming rebranded in the
early 2010s as a Ramada.
