Above: Binghamton-North's later addition retained its sliders and had been designated as the "suites" section of the Econo Lodge. Outfitted for extended stays, the section's corridor air conditioning was non-functional, and housekeeping service was apparently not provided, for a layer of filth and grime covered the carpeting and cobwebs draped the walls and corners. Additionally it was apparent that guests were cooking in their rooms--based on the food odors and refuse scattered about.

Below: The "inn" section consisted of the two guest buildings that were originally opened in 1971. While they were in slightly better condition than the "suite" wing the corridors reeked of mould or mildew, and all of the guest rooms had lost their sliders.

Higher: Only one original "round" exterior light remained, and oddly all of the windows in the building connectors had been covered over which exacerbated the dank reeking quality of the corridors.

Above: Interestingly the swimming pool continued to be somewhat maintained and was almost inviting--looking beyond the obvious neglect and subsequent deterioration, the Motor Lodge's past example of HoJo's perfection barely remained evident.

Above & Right: Remnants of the past, a circa 1985 Landmark Supply chair well past its prime and a not completely functional Pamper Panel were still in the room. Note the hideous stucco slathered on every wall.
Guest rooms were only just barely serviceable and the odor of mould or mildew was evident. Moreover the window which had replaced the slider was fixed glass--thus there was no fresh air to be had.

It was a terrible shame that the place had not been properly maintained since so many familiar features like the second vanity, Pamper Panel, and beamed vaulted ceiling remained.
