Above & Left: Recycled to advertise its status as an Econo Lodge, the towering highway sign's "Restaurant" was uncovered but meaningless.
Appearing to have been revived and refreshed as a unit of Choice Hotel's Econo Lodge brand, looks were very deceiving, for the former Motor Lodge had deteriorated even further.

Above & Below: Little altered since its last days as a Howard Johnson, the stuccoed and squared off Gate Lodge displayed faded patriotic buntings and its roof tiles had been painted red. Note that the red had largely faded to pink and in many places was flaking off with Orange bleeding through!

The Restaurant was a late version based on the Nims design. It was physically connected to the Motor Lodge allowing guests to remain safely indoors avoiding inclement weather and other outside hazards. The unit was beaconized during the later 1970s and probably lasted as a Howard Johnson's until nearly the end of the '80s. Apparently it was never recycled for use by another eatery, but instead was completely gutted by 2000 and remained vacant--only its circa late 1970s window shades remained.

The Restaurant was demolished during the later 2000s. Here is a recent aerial view of the property showing it shortly after the Restaurant was razed.

Below: Although it had been sealed shut, the Restaurant's connecting passageway was outfitted with tables and chairs creating the impression that it was somehow open. However upon closer inspection layers of dust and other evidence of nonuse were quickly apparent.
