Bob's shot above
shows a corner of an original two-story unit and a small portion
of the later single story building. The addition must have been
built in the mid to late 1960s based on its design. It is somewhat
unusual to find a "newer" single story unit with an
interior corridor like the one found at Horseheads. |

Seen above are original
Howard Johnson's patio chairs. What I usually call "splats"
on the slider are Scotchcals that were actually called "Blurbs"
in HoJo's nomenclature. Howard Johnson offered three different
types of the decals through Landmark Supply--Blurbs, Sunbursts,
and Butterflies. Prior to the Scotchcals Motor Lodges used stickers
featuring the Lamplighter logo. |
