The Restaurant thrived as a HoJo's until the end of the Company's existence in the middle 1980s. Subsequently its building housed a succession of eateries. In May of 2002 it was intact but closed, for a long dispute about liquor sales with the Motor Lodge's owner had stymied its success. All of the restaurant's remaining Howard Johnson's contents were auctioned off and I was fortunate to have been able to purchase a small Landmark Supply table and two of the later-style cane back chairs.

Right: Complete with its Dairy Bar and cantilevered stools, the former Howard Johnson's had maintained its integrity for nearly 20 years after it had lost its once famous name!
