Little
altered since its 1965 opening, back in 1997 Nate was able to
enjoy a meal of HoJo's once famous Macaroni & Cheese and snapped
these quick photos just before a torrential downpour. |

1998
was the last year that Plattsburgh was a Howard Johnson's,
for by 1999 it had been converted into a Best Western and
the Restaurant had become Lindsy's
Although
greatly altered the property was still easily recognizable
as having been a Howard Johnson's. |

By
the middle 2000s, the Restaurant had been converted yet again--this
time into a Ninety-Nine Restaurant & Pub which is a Northeastern
chain of eateries. Altered even more, the once elegant and
futuristic Concept '65 Restaurant lost what was left of its
unique HoJo's character.
Only
its general shape remained as well as the original stone facade
that HoJo's designers and architects had called "Arizona
cactus stone." |

A-frame
. . . the symbol of this exciting new design,
tops a facade of Arizona cactus stone in tones of copper, green
and gold. Inside, it forms a cathedral ceiling over the fountain.
There are dining rooms to the right and left; at the far left
is a separate cocktail lounge and, in back of this lounge is the
Lamplighter Room. (From Howard
Johnson's Landmark, December 1966) |
