Lake George and the rise of a Food Celebrity ...
Tune into the Food Network at almost any hour and it's hard not to see a program that features Rachael Ray--either off on some inexpensive culinary adventure or in her kitchen studio preparing some quick and easy meal. Watch her often and you'll here her signature giggle accompanied by a reference to 28 Flavors of Ice Cream or some other HoJo's treat! Turns out that she credits her mother, Elsa Scuderi, for laying the foundation of her success and popularity. What's more, Elsa Scuderi was a waitress then supervisor at the Lake George HoJo's starting in the 1950s. It was her mother who gave Ray her start by employing her during her teenage years at the Lake George Howard Johnson's as a waitress and hostess!
