Built along the New York State Thruway at Exit 14, Spring Valley opened in 1959 with "72 Ultra-Modern Units." The complex featured an unusual layout with its Restaurant facing the Motor Lodge rather than having its back to it.

By 2005 the Motor Lodge had been converted into a Days Inn, but many of the old HoJo's elements had been reused, like the street sign. It had been a "roof-logo" type from the 1970s.

Jack Thomas discovered that the freezer hatch used by HoJo's Commissary Express delivery trucks had not been covered over. The makers name can still be seen on the hatch--"Jamison of Hagerstown, MD."
