Most likely the buildings were conceived of and built on the eve of WW II, and perhaps the Restaurant may have been initially intended to have been a Howard Johnson's. It is well known that Howard Johnson was beginning to rapidly expand his empire only to have the rug pulled out from under him as war rationing forced closure of all but a handful of locations.
