The sprawling and amazingly well-preserved Motor Lodge featured a mix of one and two-story guest buildings. While the layout was in Howard Johnson's fully standardized style, the early design did not employ sliders. Nonetheless guests were able to use fully functional patios and balconies by means of doors. Not long after Denver was built, Howard Johnson's team of architects settled on using sliders because the expansive glass helped to create a larger sense of space by bringing the outside in and continued to offer guests functional patios and balconies.
