After losing the Howard Johnson name in the middle 1980s, the Motor Lodge became the Pocono Mountain Lodge. However by 2000 it had been converted into a Comfort Inn. Unfortunately the conversion rendered the building with less character, for the sliders were replaced by windows and the balcony railings were removed.
