Warwick
was Rhode Island's first Motor Lodge/Restaurant complex when
it opened in 1968.
Built on a rise, it presented itself exceptionally well to
passing motorists traveling on I-95. In fact, it was such
a prominent location that a Red Coach Grill was also built at the site. |

While
still a Howard Johnson's during the late 1970s or early '80s,
the Restaurant had lost its Dairy Bar and a Bay Window was
added to the front of the building.
In
2005 the former Restaurant was still operating as a Bickford's. |

Having
been converted into a Motel 6, the beautiful Gate Lodge was demolished
and replaced with the characterless lobby/office seen above. |
