Columbia-North,
SC -- 1201
Bush River Rd (200 Zimalcrest Rd) @ I-26 & I-20
Opened
in the spring of 1966, Columbia-North was the second Motor Lodge
and Restaurant complex in the Columbia area. Initially featuring
64 guest rooms, it was a classically configured layout. Long-lived,
the Motor Lodge maintained the Howard Johnson name and even its
squared off Gate Lodge as recently as 2006, but by May of '06 it
was no longer listed on hojo.com.

Even
as it hung on the the Howard Johnson Name for forty years, its
guest buildings endured unsightly modifications--stucco, and
slider eradication being a couple of the worst offenses.
