Advertisement supplement circa 1960: Libby Owens Ford Glass for Motels

Each guest unit has room-width wall of Thermopane insulating glassincluding sliding door. 1/4" thick Parallel-O-Plate is used in both panes to minimize waviness which could cause distortion.

1990 marked the last full year that Memphis-Airport was a Howard Johnson Motor Lodge. Thirty years was a good run...

After its many banner years Under the Orange Roof, the Lodge became the Graceland Inn. Continuing to tout its close proximity to both the airport and to Graceland, its business remained steady. However by the late 1990s it had begun to show a bit of seediness. Upon my 2004 visit, I discovered that several rooms were vacated and plywood had replaced the sliders. In fact an entire wing of the former Motor Lodge had been closed off. Access was only granted to guests through a checkpoint at the Gate Lodge so I was unable to freely explore the property.
