Shattered Dreams
Alas the Motor Lodge is a Howard Johnson no more. Its Indian-American owners no longer willing to maintain the property, and faced with Cendant's unreasonable demands, allowed the franchise agreement to expire at the end of 2005. After nearly 40 years, it's all over for Nashville-West.

According to Heath Gross, after the Howard Johnson's is demolished a retail shopping center type development will most likely come to occupy the site.

Above: In preparation for its destruction a bit of the original festively stripped red and white wallpaper was revealed in what had been the Dairy Bar area.

Below: Ceiling tiles removed, the original beams of the vaulted ceiling could be seen.

Special thanks to all who visited and documented Nashville-West and especially to Heath Gross, for he extensively and thoroughly captured the site's last gasp and provided a final view of Nashville's last Orange Roof.
