One of the last original Howard Johnson's in Wisconsin to retain the once famous name, Milwaukee's Airport complex was built along the North-South Freeway ( I-94/U.S. 41) near its heavily trafficked interchange with I-43, 894 and opened in the fall of 1970.

After its life as a Howard Johnson's Restaurant the building was converted into a Denny's and by 2006 was operating as the Spring Garden Restaurant and Lounge.
