Built
in a classic Motor Lodge configuration, only a small portion of
the original decorative stone treatment was still extant by the
middle 2000s. While the guest room exteriors retained their sliders
and functional balconies/patios, the concrete block had received
a light coat of stucco and the balcony railings had been replaced.

Squared
off and decapitated in the early to middle 1990s, the Gate Lodge
received an ill fitting makeover of stucco, button lights and blue
paint, but at least it was not demolished.
