Lamplighter Rooms were often used as meeting space for civic groups such as Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs. Often Lamplighter Rooms served as overflow dining areas and were sometimes a touch fancier!

Future Past
The bright future predicted by the vibrant roadside architecture of the middle 20th century nearly arrived. For a short time we believed that it had, for every time we patronized a Howard Johnson's it felt as if we had entered that future--Under the Orange Roof!

Right: Recycled as the Crab Shuttle, the former Howard Johnson's still played to a place in space! But by the 2010s was La Bamba featuring authentic food. More recently it became Quam's Schoolhouse Burgers and Grinders.
