Along the way the original
Motor Lodge went through several changes and by 1979 had ceased
to be a Howard Johnson's. After that the site was redeveloped
as a Holiday Inn, and by 2005 had become a Quality Hotel. |

The Restaurant
retained its name and orange Roof until at least 1983. Recently
discovered still standing by Justin
Kimbrough (May, 2005),
I raced down to Fort Myers to see it before it was too late.
Apparently in its last life it was a sushi restaurant. The roof
vents were likely added over diner's tables where the Japanese-type
food was prepared. |
