 Advertising card circa mid-1960s

 Homestead, Florida
990 N Homestead Blvd

Located immediately adjacent to Homestead's Howard Johnson's was this circa mid-1960s Holiday Inn. Somewhat larger than the HoJo's, it was of Holiday Inn's nearly generic 1960s design. Featuring the standard Holiday Inn rooms that lacked the amenities of a Howard Johnson's, the guest would have felt cramped and lacked privacy as he used the lavatory which was open to the room. When Hurricane Andrew devastated Homestead in 1992, the former Holiday Inn suffered nearly catastrophic damage while the superior construction of the Howard Johnson's left it nearly unscathed.

Typical narrow and cramped Holiday Inn guest room (the bathroom hardly allowed for the hapless guest to turn around!)
