Mark Ihrie, HoJo's enthusiast
"to the Extreme," visited the Key West Howard Johnson's
back in 1997. This Restaurant opened in about 1953 and remained
open into the late 1990s.
Thanks to Mark, it was
recently discovered that the Restaurant was last owned by David
and Ken Mann who were responsible for the "greenhouse room"
that replaced the Dairy Bar in 1990 or 1991. This location served
to anchor the chain's remnants in Florida, and by the time it
was closed in the late 1990s FAI's remaining company owned locations
quickly followed suit.
