Open in late 1958 or early 1959, this was the
first Motor Lodge in Atlanta, and was located in an area described
in 1959 as a "lovely woodland setting." The postcard
above predates the N.W. Expressway's designation as I-75.

The interior depicted above was typical of guest
room floor plans for most of the Motor Lodges built in the late
1950s. The design was so well engineered that the basic layout
remained largely the same throughout Howard Johnson's building
program--well into the late 1970s with only minor enhancements
over the years.
