Alas, even as I had found
the HoJo's Garden of Eden, it will not endure...Employees unaware
and most unappreciative of their beautiful and final A-frame
Gate Lodge coldly informed me that it was an impractical building
and would soon be demolished. Who owns the motel? I asked three
of the employees including a woman who claimed to be the manger--they
all gave me a vague answer, and why did I care.
Apparently a building
contractor, Robert "Bob" Gallo, owns the former Motor
Lodge. Bob Gallo and Steven Gallo are both licensed building
contractors, and own R.H. Gallo Builders, Inc. and Gallo Builders Inc.
If in fact the Gallos own West Boylston, they have ready access
to demolition equipment and the last most pristine Landmark along
the road will be reduced to rubble sooner rather than later.
