While Newburgh felt like a HoJo's should back in 2002, its guest rooms had suffered from several modifications. Most serious were the changes to the bathrooms. Unfortunately even as the second vanities were retained, they had been replaced with vanity "units" that looked similar to the cheap prefabricated units found in home improvement centers.

But nothing good can be left alone for very long. Note that Bob's single room was appointed the same as the double room that Dan and I occupied. However there are two glaring problems. First the railing on the balcony was replaced and worse there is a "wall-o-stucco" blocking the view from the balcony.

Just when you thought it might be safe to open your eyes again--it's an overgrown "porte-cochere-o-stucco." But that's not the end of Newburgh's hideous and wasteful transformation into a gaudy-tacky stucco-motel--turn the page.
