Perhaps one of
the last few Nims-type Restaurants built, by 1998 its prospects
for the future were not bright. Only one waitress was on duty
when the location was visited on November 3, 1998 when these
shots were taken. |

Seen below, Blair and
Sue Mahoney attended a meeting and reception for HoJo's franchisees
back in 1984 just a year prior to the Corporation's sale to Marriott
and Prime Motor Inns. |

Howard Johnson's
Landmark March, 1984 |

Mr. Mohony said:
"I'm impressed with the steps Howard Johnson's is taking
to make the company a strong entity in the hospitality industry.
I appreciated the message that we've all got to join in the effort.
I work hard to upgrade my property. If everyone works hard to
do that it will enhance my property and help all of us."
But Mahony was dead wrong
about what the Howard Johnson Corporation was doing, and by 1996
he faced an uphill battle. Under assault from Cendant to remove
the Orange Roof on his Restaurant, he steadfastly refused. I
suppose he and his wife hung on as long as anyone could--the
end for both the Restaurant and Motor Lodge came by 2000.
