 Postcard ca. 1958 (detail)

 Daytona-South, Florida
800 & 810 S Ridgewood Ave

Once Ridgewood was the main route through Daytona, and this HoJo's was an important link in the chain.

The Restaurant was a Howard Johnson's from its inception in about 1958 until its Orange Roof sign was dismantled in about 1981. After that it is unclear what it was, but when I was there in 2000 it looked to have last featured "Home Kookin" perhaps with a Southwest twist (based on the "cactus" in the window).

Somehow part of the Dairy Bar's backdrop "The World of 28 Flavors" sign survived inside the abandoned Restaurant. While I was not able to go inside, a broken window afforded the opportunity to take a peek at the ruin.
