            It was quite a place
in its hey day--Just take a look at that high-dive. While many
motels continue to offer swimming pools, almost none will still
have a diving board of any sort. Litigation is the reason, and
insurers will not write policies if diving boards are present.
By the time I was next
at the former Show-Place Motor Lodge the pool had been completely
            removed.

            When Phil first arrived
to document Daytona-South, he attempted to enter the chopped
off Ranch-type Gate Lodge, but he could not locate an employee
to unlock the door. Later a manager saw him taking some of these
shots and spoke with him. Note
that the Royal Inn sign utilizes the Howard Johnson's sign frame
that once displayed a small version of the Roof-Logo HJ sign. |
