The
3 Penny Inn concept was described as an innovation for
the Howard Johnson's Accommodations Group in 1973, for
it was designed to offer lodging to meet the needs of
budget minded travellers The idea for the budget brand
was unfortunately introduced at the time of the first
"energy crisis" and did not garner enough
management support to become successful. Only four 3
Penny Inns were opened.
The
HoJo Junction concept was a short-lived effort by the
Howard Johnson Company to offer fast food. It is not
known if the proposed Crescent Springs location was
ever opened. Please see Findlay,
Ohio for information about the restaurant idea.
Only
listed in late 1970s directories, it is not entirely
clear that the Lexington Red Coach Grill actually opened.
If it existed its location was in Lexington's Hilton
Hotel. Subsequently the Hilton became the Dominion Inn
and Conference Center, then a Ramada Hotel, and by the
2010s operated as a Four
Points by Sheraton.
