Commissary:
production, warehouse, and distribution |
|
|
The
Atlanta Commissary was one of more than twenty
which were strategically located throughout the
United States. Each had some role in food production,
but most served primarily as distribution points.
The Atlanta facility supplied a six state region
which included Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi,
North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina. |

Restaurants:
Red Coach Grill locations |
|
|
Planned
for a 1965 opening, the Atlanta Red Coach Grill
never came to pass. Usually themed in New England
Colonial motifs, the restaurants featured fine
wines, prime cuts of meat, and fresh Maine lobster.
For more information about the Red Coach Grill
chain, please see the section in Massachusetts
and Wayland
in particular. |

Anticipating
the rise in Fast Food service, the Howard Johnson
Company created HoJo Junction. It offered a limited
menu, but with traditional HoJo's fare. Dining
was self-service and take-out was encouraged.
Only six HoJo Junctions were built before the
Company ended its experiment. Visit the Ohio
HoJo Junction page for more about the concept. |
